A 5-year-old Pasadena girl and two others were hospitalized Tuesday after a 1982 Ford pickup truck slid across the center line of Duvall Highway and ran head-on into a 1991 Oldsmobile, county police said yesterday.

Whitney Sarchiapone, 5, of the 900 block of Spry Harbor was in critical but stable condition yesterday at Johns Hopkins Children's Center, where she is being treated for facial injuries and broken bones.

Susan Faye Pangle, 40, of the 800 block of 203rd St. in Pasadena, who was driving the car Whitney was in, was in serious but stable condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was being treated for chest and head injuries and a dislocated hip.

Angela Jane Hardin, 18, of the 900 block of 12th St. in Pasadena, who was in the truck, was in fair condition at Shock Trauma with facial injuries and cuts. James Franklin Taylor, 26, of the 790 block of Seabreze Drive in Pasadena, who was driving the truck, was treated at North Arundel Hospital and released.

Police said Taylor was driving west on Duvall Highway shortly before midnight when his truck swung wide on a curve near Pine Haven Drive and into the path of Pangle's eastbound Oldsmobile sedan.

Pangle tried to steer away from the truck, but the vehicles collided, police said.

None of the victims was wearing a seat belt, police said.
