An East Baltimore man died yesterday of injuries he received Tuesday night in a traffic accident in Gambrills, Anne Arundel County police said.

Police said John Daniel Jones, 36, of the 3800 block of Eastern Ave. in Highlandtown was driving a 1981 Mercedes-Benz 300 DS south on Route 3 near Waugh Chapel Road about 10: 15 p.m.

The car drifted onto the shoulder and struck the back of a disabled 1978 Chevrolet C-65 truck, police said.

The driver of the truck was not at the scene when the accident occurred, police said.

Police said alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.

Jones, who was critically injured, died about 4 p.m. at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, police said.
