Kansas State halts Coppin in OT, 84-80

Aaron Swartzendruber scored 24 and Mark Young added 23 as Kansas State edged Coppin State, 84-80, in overtime last night in Manhattan, Kan. All three of the Eagles' losses this season have occurred at Big 12 opponents.

The Wildcats (5-1), who have beaten Coppin in all four meetings, held a 41-29 halftime lead but needed to outscore the Eagles 10-6 in overtime for the victory. Antoine Brockington had 23 points to lead the Eagles (2-3), and Terquin Mott added 18.

Women

American 82, Mount St. Mary's 70: Junior center Mary Klima led four Eagles in double figures with 18 points and seven rebounds as host American (3-2) topped Mount St. Mary's (4-2). The Mount was led by Amy Langville (Spalding), who had 20 points, six rebounds and four assists.
