State investigating fire at barn in Keymar area

The state fire marshal's office is investigating a two-alarm barn fire that occurred at 1 p.m. Friday in the Keymar area.

Firefighters from Taneytown, New Windsor, Union Bridge, Harney; New Midway, Emmitsburg, Rocky Ridge and Walkersville, Frederick County; and Kingsdale, Littlestown and Greenmount, Pa., were called to the scene at Route 194 and Keysville-Bruceville Road.

A portable water tank was set up and filled from tanker trucks that used the Evapco pond to refill.

State Fire Marshal Tim Warner is the investigating officer.

Post presents five checks to W.Va. medical center

American Legion Hesson-Snider Post 120 of Taneytown recently presented five checks to the Virginia Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Post Service Officer Godfrey Miller presented the checks to zTC Richard Pell Jr., center director. Checks for $200 each for the hearing aid program, the television account and Westmar House were given from the Sons of the American Legion Post. The post presented $250 checks to the television program and hearing aid program.


New Windsor: Firefighters responded to wires arcing on Mill Dale Lane at 1: 39 a.m. Friday. Units were out 30 minutes.
