Max Leviton, 78, assistant plant manager

Max Leviton, a retired former manager for Joseph E. Seagram and Sons Inc., died Saturday of complications after heart surgery at Northridge Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was 78 and divided his time between his home in Pikesville and his winter residence in Boca Raton, Fla.

A native of New Jersey, he came to Baltimore in 1940 to work for Seagram after graduating from Rutgers University with a degree in bacteriology. He retired in 1982 as an assistant plant manager at the company's Calvert distillery in Relay.

He lived for many years in Pimlico before moving to Pikesville about 20 years ago.

In 1943, he married Goldie Bernstein, who died in 1986. In 1988, he married Esther Pruce Weiner, who survives him.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Sol Levinson & Bros. Inc., 8900 Reisterstown Road.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Susan Leviton, Joyce Leviton and Audrey Leviton, all of Baltimore; and three grandchildren.
