High school PTSA board to meet Belle Grove to swear in officers

NORTH COUNTY High School News: The PTSA executive board will meet at 6 p.m. tomorrow in the main office conference room. Anyone interested in serving on this committee is invited to attend.

Band parents are reminded to pick up poinsettias from the school tomorrow in the band room.

New officers

The Belle Grove Improvement Association will swear in officers for 1997 at its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Belle Grove Elementary School, 4502 Belle Grove Road.

The officers are Sandy Gallagher, president; Jenny Martin, vice president; Kathy Calabrese, treasurer; and Bill Bowen, sergeant at arms.

Library seek volunteers

Branches of the Anne Arundel County Public Library are looking for volunteers to help familiarize library users with the catalog, find books to send to other branches, unpack and shelve donated books and magazines and repair and cover books.

Each of these jobs requires an ability to lift, bend and stoop.

The libraries also need volunteers who are computer literate, comfortable with using a "mouse" and available for at least two hours a week. Some branches may need volunteers for evenings and weekends.

New Year's Eve party

It's not too early to start making plans for New Year's Eve. Roland Terrace Democratic Club, 619 Matthews Ave., will conduct a New Year's Eve Party from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Dec. 31 at the hall. Music will be provided by Rocking Ron the DJ. Tickets are $25 a person and include a hot and cold buffet, limited open bar, noise makers and favors.

Cookie swap

Harbor Hospital Center News: Bring your favorite cookies and their recipes to Harbor Hospital's Annual Cookie Swap and Holiday Celebration from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glen Burnie Mall. Members of Harbor Hikers, Hike at Nite and Advantage should join in this seasonal cheer and good food.

In addition to sampling cookies, participants can try a new recipe to be published in the LifeCourse Cookbook.

You can pick up a copy in the hospital gift shop or at Glen Burnie Mall on Wednesday mornings for $3.

HHC's Pastoral Care Division will present "The Sounds of Christmas" at 7 p.m. Friday in the family lounge of the Extended Care Facility on the fifth floor.

Guests are encouraged to bring a canned good or other nonperishable food as a donation to the holiday sharing program for the needy in the community.
