Holiday events fill calendar with shopping and Santa visits

AS CHRISTMAS rapidly approaches, local holiday events to expand your waistline and empty your pocketbook fill the calendar.

Sundaes with Santa

Lake Shore Elementary School, 4531 Mountain Road, invites families to its annual Sundaes with Santa from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.

Make-your-own sundaes will be available for $1.25.

Children can visit with Santa Claus, make a button or purchase a gift from Santa's Workshop. Free gift wrapping is included. Photos taken with Santa are $2.50.

A silent auction and bake table also will be featured.

Coffee house

Magothy United Methodist Church, 3703 Mountain Road, will play hold a coffee house from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today in the fellowship hall.

Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served.

Santa dinner

Families can dine with Santa Claus from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Fort Smallwood Elementary School, 1720 Poplar Ridge Road.

Refreshments will be on sale.

Live and silent auctions, a craft table, children's games, a Santa's secret workshop, photos with Santa and a bake table will be featured.

Craft fair

Pasadena Elementary School on Spruce Avenue will play hold a craft fair from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today in the multipurpose room.

A Kids Korner and Santa's gift shop also will be open for young shoppers.

Breakfast with Santa

Riviera Beach Elementary School PTA is sponsoring breakfast with Santa Claus, starting at 9: 30 a.m. tomorrow at the school, 8515 Jenkins Road.

Admission is $1 for children and $2 for adults. The breakfast menu includes doughnuts, juice and coffee. Pictures with Santa are $2 each.

Another breakfast

The religious education program of St. Jane Frances Roman Catholic parish in Riviera Beach will hold its annual breakfast with Santa Claus from 8 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m. Sunday.

VTC Pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee are on the menu. The cost is $3.50 for adults and $2 for children.

Holiday crafts, candies and baked goods and a children's shopping area also will be available.

Jolly old St. Nick will be available for small visitors. Bring your own camera for snapshots.

There also will be games with prizes and a raffle.

Business meeting

The Pasadena Business Association monthly meeting is set for noon Wednesday at La Fontaine Bleu in Glen Burnie.

Jim Anderson will offer tips for filing 1996 tax returns and give a 1996 tax update.

A slate of officers and directors for 1997-1998 will be presented by the nominating committee; nominations will also be accepted from the floor.

The cost is $10 with reservations, $15 at the door. Reservations must be made today.
