Maryland women turn back Howard State basketball

Stephanie Cross scored 11 points and Sonia Chase added 10 as Maryland defeated host Howard, 47-32, last night in women's basketball.

The Terps (4-1), who have won four in a row, limited Howard (1-3) to 24 percent (15-of-63) shooting.

Navy 63, UMBC 33: Senior Adria Schneck scored 22 points, including 12-for-15 from the free-throw line to lead Navy (5-0) over visiting UMBC (2-3).

Mount St. Mary's 68, Duquesne 65: With seven seconds remaining, Amy Langville made two free throws to secure a victory for Mount St. Mary's (3-1) over visiting Duquesne (2-2). The Mount has won three straight.

Virginia Commonwealth 74, Coppin State 46: Mona Karlsson had 20 points and 12 rebounds as VCU (3-2) defeated visiting Coppin State (0-2).

Salisbury State 86, Catholic 35: Dominique Lisa scored 22 points and had five assists to help host Salisbury State (2-2, 1-0 in the Capital Athletic Conference) over Catholic (0-3, 0-1).

St. Mary's 59, Goucher 34: Lesley Kline had 22 points and Megan Van Wambeke pulled down 20 rebounds as visiting St. Mary's (2-3, 1-0 in the CAC) downed Goucher (0-4, 0-1).
