Man strikes teen-ager in head with hammer

December 05, 1996

A 16-year-old boy was struck in the head with a hammer by a man who robbed him on Royal Avenue in Hampstead early yesterday, state police said.

The teen-ager, who was not identified because of his age, told police he was riding his bicycle home from a friend's house at 12: 50 a.m. when a man drove up in a black car, demanded money and drugs, then hit him.

The man, who was wearing a white ski mask and black gloves, placed the boy's bicycle in the car and drove away, police said.

A nearby resident called police after finding the bleeding teen-ager. The boy was taken to Carroll County General Hospital, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident should call state police at (410) 848-3111.
