WMAR takes sharp blades to key 'Murder One' episode

Today's TV

"Murder One" winds up its season-opening case tonight, and odds are the butler didn't do it. Hope you can get D.C. stations, since the show is pre-empted by ice skating on WMAR (Channel 2).

"Teenage Confidential" (4 p.m.-5 p.m., WMAR, Channel 2) -- In this latest edition of ABC's "Afterschool Special," Morgan Fairchild (taking a break from the sexpot roles she's usually stuck in) and Sam McMurray are parents so paranoid about their daughter that they hire a private detective to keep an eye on her. Watch, and be thankful these aren't your parents. ABC.

"Holiday Festival on Ice" (8 p.m.-10 p.m., WMAR, Channel 2) -- Katarina Witt, Brian Orser, Paul Wylie, Ekaterina Gordeeva and other skaters celebrate the holidays. ABC.

"Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., WJZ, Channel 13) -- It's not up to the standards of "Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day," but then any Pooh is better than no Pooh at all. Watch as the ever-altruistic bear offers to sacrifice his own Christmas so all his friends can enjoy theirs. CBS.

"Murder One" (9 p.m.-10 p.m., WJLA, Channel 7) -- So, who did kill the guv? It couldn't have been Sharon, that cute, but tough, blonde who confessed to the murder in the season premiere, could it? Watch tonight and find out. ABC.

"Seinfeld" (9 p.m.-9: 30 p.m., WBAL, Channel 11) -- A repeat of the very funny season premiere finds poor George stuck with honoring his late fiancee's memory (remember, she died last season from envelope-glue poisoning), whether he likes it or not. NBC.

"Xena: Warrior Princess" (9 p.m.-10 p.m., WNUV, Channel 54) -- Decisions, decisions. Our favorite warrior woman is given the opportunity to erase all the nasty events of her past (including her brother's death), but on one condition: that she never again raise her sword in anger. What will she do? And what effect will her decision have on the ratings?

Cable

"Saturday Night Live" (10 a.m.-11 a.m., Comedy Central) -- Renowned jokester Howard Cosell is the guest host of this mid-1980s repeat, and if that isn't enough to get you to watch, try this: He's interviewed by Billy Crystal's Fernando, who no doubt will note how marvelous the famed sportscaster and one-time variety show host looks.

"Barry Manilow: Live by Request" (9 p.m.-11 p.m., repeats 1 a.m.-3 a.m., A&E) -- Whose request, exactly?
