Brandywine man is arrested on gun and marijuana charges

December 03, 1996

A Brandywine man wanted on attempted armed robbery charges was arrested Friday after county police stopped his truck in Deale.

Dennis John Lord, 29, of the 8600 block of Timothy Road, was charged with possession of a deadly weapon, illegal possession of a handgun, possession of a handgun while distributing drugs, possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Police had been looking for Lord after an informant linked him and another man to the attempted robbery Nov. 23 of an employee of the Happy Harbor Inn on Rockhold Creek Road.

The informant told a robbery detective that the man was on his way to Deale again, and the detective radioed two patrol officers shortly after 7 p.m. to tell them to be on the lookout for the suspect's black Ford pickup.

Officer Sonny Pentz stopped the truck on Route 256 near Drum Point Road, arrested the man and searched the truck. Police found a loaded .32-caliber semiautomatic handgun, a stun gun, and nearly 3 pounds of marijuana worth about $7,000, police said.
