Auto parts store robbed gunman sought

December 02, 1996|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

County police are seeking a gunman who robbed the Hi-Gear Discount Auto Parts store in the 1600 block of Annapolis Road in Odenton Saturday evening, assaulted the manager and stole a clerk's car.

Police said the man, armed with a .32-caliber handgun, forced store manager Jonathan Webb, 24, and a clerk, Mark Peterson, 17, into a storeroom about 5: 30 p.m. and ordered Webb to tie Peterson's hands and feet.

When the gunman saw that Webb had not bound Peterson tightly, he assaulted the manager -- kicking and pushing him -- and ordered him to remove money from a cash register. The gunman then took Peterson's money and keys and drove off in the clerk's red 1986 Dodge Colt with license tags DHX 001.
