Youths assault woman, steal $300 from apartment

A woman was assaulted Friday by teens who forced their way into a Glen Burnie apartment and stole $300, county police said.

Linda L. Lemaster, 40, of the 8400 block of Rugby Road, Pasadena, told police she was playing cards with James W. Jones, 20, at his home in the 200 block of Crain Court Circle in Glen Burnie shortly before midnight when she walked outside.

Lemaster told police she returned to the apartment and a group of about 10 teen-age boys came to the door asking for someone named Jay. They forced their way in, hit Lemaster in the head and took $300 from the card table.

She said the youths left in four vehicles. Police did not say where Jones was during the assault.

Essex woman is charged with theft from Wal-Mart

Police arrested an Essex woman Friday and charged her with stealing nearly $500 worth of clothes, movies and film from the Glen Burnie Wal-Mart.

Julie Aileen Osborn-Durst, 19, of the first block of Fin Way South was charged with felony theft.

A security guard for the Wal-Mart in the 7900 block of Crain Highway told police he saw the woman in the store shortly after 5 p.m. with two other women.

All three were picking up items from store displays and placing the merchandise in a bag beneath the shopping cart.

Two women took items from the store and drove off in a maroon Toyota before the guard could catch them.

The last woman also tried to get into the car, but the guard caught her outside the store and held her for police. The bag contained $494 worth of merchandise, county police said.

Glen Burnie: Someone broke into Glen Burnie High School in '' the 7500 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday and ransacked several student lockers.
