County police arrested a motorist and his passenger on handgun charges Friday and seized three loaded weapons from their van.

Cecil Bernard Scott, 26, of no fixed address and Karen Kuzyk, 18, of the 500 block of Norwich Road in Severna Park were charged with illegal possession of handguns.

Scott also was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended or revoked license, and on three traffic and three criminal warrants, police said.

Detective John K. Heiser was in an unmarked car about 9: 45 p.m. when he saw a man wanted on several warrants driving on Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie, police said.

Heiser called for patrol officers to stop the Dodge Caravan. They pulled it over in the 7100 block of Ritchie Highway and arrested the male driver.

Police said the woman handed officers a loaded 9 mm handgun when she got out of the van, and she also was arrested.

The officers then searched the van and found a bag with two loaded .22-caliber handguns, cocaine, a scale and screens, police said.
