Brooklyn Park man assaulted, robbed in his back yard

November 26, 1996

A Brooklyn Park man was assaulted and robbed of his wallet in his back yard Sunday, county police said.

Robert Jay Tomalski, 64, told police he had been drinking at a bar in Curtis Bay and returned to his home in the 200 block of Doris Ave. shortly after 11 p.m.

Just before Tomalski reached the back door, someone grabbed him, sprayed his face with a chemical and knocked him to the ground, police said.

The thief took Tomalski's wallet with an undisclosed amount of money and ran. Tomalski refused medical attention.

Police did not have a description of the thief.
