Baltimore man charged in video store robbery

A Baltimore man has been charged with robbing a Blockbuster Video in Columbia's Owen Brown village Sept. 29, Howard County police said.

Marvin Gardner, Jr., 31, of the 5300 block of Ethelberg Ave., has been charged with three counts of armed robbery, one count of concealing a deadly weapon, two counts of false imprisonment, one count of assault and two counts of battery.

Gardner was being held at the Howard County Detention Center on $250,000 bail.

The robbery was discovered by a customer who arrived after the store's midnight closing time to find the doors unlocked but no employees visible. The employees were handcuffed to a sink in the back of the store. They were not injured.

Oakland Mills: 9800 block of Pushcart Way: The side window of a vacant home was broken between Nov. 10 and Thursday. Nothing was missing.

Oakland Mills: 5600 Stevens Forest Road: An apartment door was kicked in Monday by two men who claimed to be looking for someone with whom they had argued. Arrested were Anival Jimenez Olivo, 30, of Majors Lane in Long Reach village and Jose Daniel Mania, 33, of Stevens Forest Road in Oakland Mills village.
