Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore and Baltimore County.

Southeastern District

Suspicious fire: A man was arrested in connection with a one-alarm fire in the 200 block of N. Rose St. last night that extensively damaged a rowhouse. Reported at 7: 35 p.m., the fire was under control in about 20 minutes. No injuries were reported.

Southern District

Robbery try/assault: A male motorist was stopped at a traffic light in the 3900 block of 8th St. in Brooklyn yesterday when a man forced his way into the vehicle, struck him in the face and attempted to rob him. The motorist pushed his assailant out of the car and drove off.

Burglary: A videocassette recorder and several compact disc tapes, all valued at more than $400, were stolen Saturday from a house in the 4100 block of Audrey Ave.

Robbery: A man was walking across the Ostend Street bridge in the 200 block of W. Ostend St. Saturday when the driver of a Ford LTD stopped, exited the vehicle and robbed him of more than $200.

Stolen car: A red 4-door 1996 Buick with tags CKL 801 was stolen Saturday in the 100 block of W. Ostend St.

Northwestern District

Robbery: Five men were inside a carryout food shop in the 4900 block of Reisterstown Road on Saturday when two other men, one with a handgun, entered, ordered them to get on the floor and robbed them of cash and property, all valued at $50.

Central District

Theft from vehicle: Clothing, 40 cassette tapes, three bowling balls, two pairs of bowling shoes and a cell phone, all valued at nearly $1,300, were stolen Saturday from a 1994 Acura Legend parked in the 700 block of W. Lexington St.

Western District

Theft: A chrome-plated .25 caliber semiautomatic handgun with serial number BA532772 was stolen from the basement of a house in the 1500 block of W. Lexington St. Saturday.

Southwestern District

Robbery: Three men, one with a handgun, robbed a man Saturday of $44 in the 5000 block of Frederick Ave.

Stolen car: A red two-door 1983 Buick Regal with tags BCF 421 was stolen Saturday in the 4500 block of Edmondson Ave.

Essex Precinct

Robbery: A man knocked a 22-year-old woman to the ground and robbed her of $15 Saturday at Southeastern Terrace and Williams Avenue.

North Point Precinct

Theft: A warrant was expected to be issued for the arrest of an employee of the J.C. Penney store at Eastpoint Mall. The employee is suspected of stealing more than $6,000 from the store between July 1995 and this month by writing false forms for cash merchandise refunds and taking similar amounts from the register.

Towson Precinct

Burglary: Someone entered a house in the 8000 block of Oakleigh Road on Saturday and stole $360.

Woodlawn Precinct

Burglary: A combination 19-inch television and videocassette recorder valued at nearly $500 was stolen Saturday from a house in the 7100 block of Rolling Bend Road.

Wilkens Precinct

Burglary: Robbery: A man was in the 3400 block of Yarnall Road on Saturday when he was robbed of nearly $30 by another man who threatened him with a bottle.

Parkville Precinct

Robbery: Two men, one with a handgun, robbed the Super Fresh food store in the 7700 block of Harford Road on Saturday. As the robbers sped south on Harford Road in a green Plymouth Neon, a dye pack hidden inside the money exploded, filling the interior of the car with a purple dye. Some money was recovered. No arrests were made.
