Diversity Training wins contracts

The Diversity Training Group of Columbia, a training and consulting practice specializing in workplace gender equity and mentoring training and development, has won training contracts from Bay Area Health Care, Care Rehab Inc., MK-Ferguson, the Social Security Administration and the U.S. Information Agency.

Franchise partners offer $500 scholarship

Tim and Linda Resau, partners in the Ellicott City franchise of Padgett Business Services, are offering a $500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior who is a dependent of a local small-business owner.

The award is part of an international program in which Padgett, a financial reporting and tax planning service for small-business owners, will award more than $50,000 in scholarships throughout North America.

The local winner will be eligible for a $4,000 grand prize scholarship.

Country Interiors going to Savage Mill

Country Interiors, and its affiliate, Accents by Country Interiors, will move to Historic Savage Mill, where the two businesses will be consolidated. The new store will emphasize rugs, linens and window treatments. The company has spent 18 years at The Mall in Columbia. Reopening at the new location is scheduled for Jan. 1.

Holiday Inn Columbia wins excellence award

Holiday Inn Columbia has won the Holiday Inn Worldwide 1996 Quality Excellence Award, given to hotels that have achieved distinction in all aspects of their operations.

This is the ninth consecutive year that Holiday Inn Columbia has received the award. Mark Stielper, general manager of the hotel, accepted the award at a ceremony at the Holiday Inn Worldwide Conference in Las Vegas.

People

Barbara B. Canion has been appointed sales manager for Woodland Village, an Ellicott City townhouse community developed by Chateau Builders. The Harper's Choice resident will manage new home sales in the final phase of Woodland Village, and assist homebuyers with special financing packages.
