25 years ago (week of Nov. 21-27, 1971):

The Connecticut General Life Insurance Co., carrier of the Columbia Medical Plan, announced that another increase in monthly premiums would be necessary because the company was losing money on the plan. The need for the increase was attributed to increases in hospital costs, salaries and the cost of supplies, as well as inaccurate membership projections.

50 years ago (week of Nov. 17-23, 1946):

The Ellicott City Elementary School PTA met this week. The guest speaker was Dr. Theodore R. Shrop, public health officer, who spoke on communicable diseases and the use of sanitation measures for disease prevention.
