Tonight's games

St. Peter's (0-0) at UMES (0-0)

Site: Tawes Gymnasium, Princess Anne

Time: 7

Radio: WESM (960 AM)

Outlook: This is the regular-season debut for UMES coach Lonnie Williams, and he'll try to improve on last year's 11-16 record (6-11 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). That task is made more difficult with the departure of leading scorer Aaron McKinney (14.0 ppg). The Hawks, who ranked last in the MEAC in scoring last season, are very young. UMES lost at St. Peter's last year, 81-54. The Peacocks don't return much offense from a team that was 15-11 overall last year, 5-9 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Old Dominion (0-0) at Towson State (0-0)

Site: Towson Center

Time: 7: 30

Radio: WTMD (89.7 FM)

Outlook: The Tigers, 16-12 overall a year ago, begin their season with this non-conference game. They return one full-time starter, senior guard Michael Keyes, and must compensate for the loss of their three leading scorers and top rebounder. Old Dominion is one of the favorites to win the Colonial Athletic Assocation. The Monarchs have four starters back from a team that went 18-13 last season. They lead the series, 4-0, winning the most recent game, 93-75, two years ago in Norfolk.
