Man sought in robbery of W. Friendship woman

Howard County police are looking for a man suspected of robbing a West Friendship woman at gunpoint Wednesday morning as she walked along Maryland Avenue in Ellicott City.

The victim, Erin Campbell, 23, was unharmed after being accosted as she walked toward St. Paul Street about 6: 30 a.m., said Sgt. Steven Keller, a police spokesman.

As Campbell passed in front of an antiques shop on Maryland Avenue, a man pulled her into the store's archway, a police report said.

When the man stuck a gun to Campbell's chest and demanded $$ money, she handed over her waitress apron, which contained $40. The suspect fled west on St. Paul Street, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, 5 feet 9, with greasy, collar-length dirty blond hair, blue eyes and a mustache. He was wearing a green waist-length bulky flight jacket and gray shirt and was armed with a blue steel handgun, possibly an automatic.
