Special service planned today at St. John's

ST. JOHN Lutheran Church, 226 Washburn Ave., will offer only one worship service today.

A Thankoffering Service, sponsored by the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is scheduled at 8: 30 a.m. Sunday school will follow at 9: 45 a.m.

Town meeting

The Olde Brooklyn Park Improvement Association is having a town meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, at Brooklyn Park Elementary School. Elected officials and community leaders will be there. Residents can raise their concerns and get answers to their questions.

The school is at 200 14th Ave.

Line dance lessons

Country line dance lessons are being held at Brooklyn Heights United Methodist Church from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday evenings.

The cost is $4 a person per lesson. No partner is needed, and beginners are welcome.

The church is at 110 Townsend Ave. Call the church office, 789-3688, for more information.

Visit classes

As part of American Education Week, parents of Brooklyn Park/Lindale Middle schools students are invited to visit classes tomorrow. Everyone is asked to check in at the main office before going to class.

Parents also are invited to attend the awards assembly and technology open house at 7: 30 p.m. Tuesday.

Parents, students and staff will convene in the auditorium to recognize all students who have earned a place on the honor roll for the first marking period, as well as those who have had perfect attendance in September and October.

At 8 p.m., parents and students can observe and participate in activities in the technology areas in the school.

Students who have made the honor roll will be notified tomorrow, when they get their report cards.

School council to meet

The North County High School Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the main office conference room.

Anyone interested in getting involved in school-related issues is invited to attend this meeting. Call the school at 222-6970.

The Band Boosters will hold a fund-raiser from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Roy Rogers outlet in Cromwell Field Shopping Center. Proceeds will benefit the general band fund. The boosters will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, in the band room.

Aerobics classes

Step aerobics and bio-aerobics, sponsored by the county Department of Parks and Recreation, will begin this week at two neighborhood schools.

Step aerobics will take place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at Belle Grove Elementary School, 4502 Belle Grove Road, beginning tomorrow.

Bio-aerobics take place from 7: 45 to 8: 45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Brooklyn Park/Lindale Middle Schools, 415 Andover Road, beginning Tuesday. Cost is $45.50 for seven weeks.

Breast-feeding class

The Harbor Hospital Center prenatal breast-feeding class will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Topics include basic steps for getting started, breast-feeding and the working mother, the anatomy and physiology of breast-feeding and preventing problems associated with breast-feeding.

Husbands are encouraged to attend with their wives. Cost is $15. Call LifeCourse at 347-2563 to register.

The next Caregivers Support Group will meet from 4: 30 p.m. to 6: 30 p.m. on Thursday. This group provides a time for caregivers to share problems and work on solutions.

Participants also learn about community resources as well as stress management and coping strategies. Registration is not necessary.
