Office building fire in Savage causes $60,000 damage

An electrical fire in an office building in Savage early Wednesday caused $60,000 worth of damage, the state fire marshal's office said yesterday.

The fire began about 5: 45 a.m. in the Century Rain Acid offices, in a one-story brick and block building in the 9100 block of Bursa Road in Savage.

Fire officials said the manager of the building reported the fire after he turned on a wall-mounted electric heating unit, heard crackling noises, then saw smoke.

The fire was brought under control in 30 minutes, and no one was injured. The fire was ruled accidental.
