Watkins Mills KOs Dulaney in 4A volleyball semis

November 13, 1996|By FROM STAFF REPORTS

Dulaney had not reached the state volleyball semifinals since 1984, and that would be the No. 4 Lions' consolation last night. Watkins Mills denied the Lions (15-3) their first trip to the state championship by winning the Class 4A semifinal, 15-5, 15-9, 15-9, at Essex Community College.

In Saturday's Class 4A final at Catonsville Community College, the Montgomery County Wolverines (18-1) will meet two-time defending state champion Northern of Calvert County, a team that is 75-0 over the past three years.
