Southwestern District police charged a 21-year-old man yesterday with being a drug kingpin after they arrested him while he allegedly was dealing drugs across from Walbrook High School.

Police detained the man, who was sitting in a 1988 Ford Taurus at Edgewood Street and Clifton Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. Inside the car, which was confiscated, police found 6 ounces of suspected crack cocaine worth about $6,000, $1,800, a .380-caliber handgun, two cellular phones and a pager.

Police then obtained two search warrants, one for a house in the 2100 block of Mount Holly St., where they seized $800 and scale; and another for a residence in the 3500 block of Juneway, where they seized a kilo of suspected crack cocaine, worth about $25,000, a .38-caliber handgun, $2,000 and a 1991 Acura Legend.

Police charged Anthony Watson of the 2100 block of Mount Holly St. with drug possession, being a drug kingpin, possession of a handgun and drug dealing within 1,000 feet of a school.
