Arundel Middle School math team takes third place in competition

A 14-MEMBER mathematics team from Arundel Middle School took third place in the county competition at Central Middle School in Edgewater.

The students participated in individual and team events against 14 other teams.

Congratulations to Lydia Briers, Kristen Coffelt, Meredith Dobish, Amy Gorman, Craign Haas, Emily Higgins, Katie Kwiatkowski, Lara Paoline, Cliff Peterson, Jessica Piercy, Caitlin Reinhardt, Matthew Rose, Stephen Waskiewicz and Josie Zohny.

Bull roast

The Greater Odenton Improvement Association will have a bull roast from 7 p.m. to midnight, Saturday at the Odenton Fire Hall, Route 175, Odenton.

Food will be served from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., with dancing from 8 p.m. to midnight. The band Just for Fun will perform.

The menu includes carved roast beef, glazed ham, pit country sausage, salads, desserts, soda and beer. Tickets are $20 a person.

German group to meet

The Christian German American Women's Group will meet at noon Monday in the blue room of the Chapel Center on Rockenbach Avenue in Fort Meade.

Group members get the opportunity to socialize and practice the German language.

Lunch will be served. New members are welcome.

Library Storytime

Storytime is in full swing at several of our neighborhood public libraries.

The Odenton branch is inviting children ages 3 to 8 along on an adventure of stories old and new at 7 p.m., Tuesday.

The Crofton branch is planning a potpourri of music, crafts and stories with the Thanksgiving theme for children ages 2 to 6 at 10: 30 a.m. on Monday.

And in celebration of Children's Book Week next week, the Maryland City branch is celebrating by inviting preschoolers through six-graders to design a book jacket of their favorite book, which will be displayed in the library window. Everyone who participates will receive a free bookmark.

Software workshop

The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a workshop, Software Showcase: Business Software to Help You Run Your Business, from 7: 45 a.m. to 9: 30 a.m. Nov. 21.

The program, at the Professional Outplacement Assistance Center, 901 Elkridge Landing Road in Linthicum, will allow participants to inspect business software and get free advice about software and hardware requirements.

The cost is $20 for chamber members and $30 for

nonmembers. A continental breakfast is included.

Chamber mixer

The Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce will hold an After Hours Business Networking Mixer from 5: 30 p.m. to 7: 30 p.m., Tuesday at the sponsoring company, Keswick Park Apartments, 1623 Parkridge Circle in Crofton.

The cost is $10 for members by Friday; $15 for members at the door and $25 for nonmembers.
