November 12, 1996|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A body found Friday afternoon in a vacant apartment above a hair salon in the 400 block of W. Saratoga St. was that of a black female in her late 30s or early 40s, city police said yesterday.

Police have not been able to identify the woman, whose decomposed body was found on the fourth floor by an exterminator. Police said the woman's ankles were tied together and her hands were bound behind her back. The body was wrapped in plastic.

She was about 5 feet 2 inches and weighed 105 pounds. She was wearing a blue denim jacket over a light blue nylon jacket, a pair of shorts under a pair of pants and two T-shirts.

On the back of one of the T-shirts was written: "It's amazing how I stay so young for such a long, long time."

An autopsy performed during the weekend found no obvious signs of trauma. The death has been ruled questionable.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Baltimore Police Department's homicide unit at 396-2100.
