Taneytown to get 2 new councilmen

November 11, 1996

Taneytown City Council is set to swear in a new member tonight, who will be eligible to vote on another new member, bringing the five-member council to full strength.

The council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. at the city office, 17 E. Baltimore St.

Brian Long, an O'Brien Avenue resident, is scheduled to be sworn in, replacing former Councilman John M. Contestabile, who resigned in July.

Council members then will vote on the nomination of James Wieprecht, a Starboard Court resident. Wieprecht is to replace Dennis Baumgardner, who resigned last month, citing travel required for his job as a computer consultant.

Also on tonight's agenda are awards of bids for a police car, snow removal and construction of soccer fields at a town park.
