Mari is general manager of Renaissance Harborplace

Renaissance Harborplace Hotel recently announced the appointment of Christian Mari as general manager.

He will be responsible for daily operations of the 622-room hotel and comes to Baltimore from the Renaissance Stanford Court in San Francisco.

Before joining the Renaissance chain, he was senior vice president of operations for the Trump Castle Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, N.J.

A graduate of Cornell University, he is a certified hotel administrator.

Edmondson new controller of Villa Julie College

Villa Julie College has chosen Melanie M. Edmondson as controller.

Before coming to the Stevenson college, she was financial systems manager for United Press International in Washington. A finance graduate of the Florida Institute of Technology, she earlier was general accounting manager for the Presidio Corp. in Lanham.


Julia Layne joins Reeves Agency

The Reeves Agency selected Julia Layne as an account executive, with focus on retail food and home decor accounts.

Formerly with Baltimore-based Siquis Ltd., where she prepared marketing support and media plans, she is an English/art history graduate of the University of Maryland College Park.

Banking and finance

SSA credit union names 6 service representatives

SSA Baltimore Federal Credit Union announced that Bonnie R. Mascaro, JoAnne M. Pantliano, Sandra A. Thomas and Patricia A. Whitehead were chosen for the newly created positions of senior member services representative.

Named as member services representatives were: Danilo V. Areco and Karen I. Little.


McQuaid is senior VP at Howard County General

Howard County General Hospital has named David P. McQuaid senior vice president of operations.

Formerly, he was vice president of clinical and support services at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, Mass.

He has a degree in pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and an MBA from the University of New Hampshire.

A registered pharmacist, the Ellicott City resident is also a licensed nursing home administrator and member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.


Baldwin, King, Schriver join Ellin & Tucker

Ellin & Tucker selected W. Streett Baldwin and Kristin A. King as principals in the Baltimore-based firm of accountants, auditors and tax consultants.

Baldwin, a graduate of Washington College, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is active in the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants.

King graduated from the University of Baltimore with a master's degree in taxation. She was previously with the firm of KPMG Peat Marwick.

The firm also announced that David Schriver, a graduate of Mount St. Mary's College, Emmitsburg, and formerly a staff accountant with Boles, Grove & Metzger, joined the firm as a member of its accounting, auditing and consulting department.

Valenti joins Nottingham as a project manager

Nottingham Construction Co. announced that Vincent Valenti III was appointed to the staff of the Nottingham Properties subsidiary as a project manager and estimator.

Formerly with the James F. Knott Construction Co., the Towson State University graduate will supervise bids, estimates, general and subcontract execution, and the management of cost and construction schedules as part of his new duties.
