November 10, 1996|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Two pedestrians were struck fatally by motor vehicles Friday in Baltimore and Anne Arundel County, authorities reported.

In the city, 83-year-old John Daniel Jones was walking across the street in the 500 block of E. Preston St. near his home about 11 a.m. when he was struck by a van driven by a neighbor.

Police said the victim, who was returning from a grocery store, was not in a crosswalk when he was struck, but that charges were pending against the driver.

In the other accident, Ramon Villalobos, 38, of Silver Spring was crossing the southbound lanes of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway near Route 176 shortly after 6 p.m. when he was struck by a 1993 Chevrolet Geo driven by an Odenton woman.

Villalobos, a construction worker in Baltimore, was walking along the highway looking for help after his van broke down, said a nephew, William Rodriguez.
