1995 Thomas Mitchell, Marsanne, South Eastern Australia ($11)

Wine of the week

November 10, 1996|By Michael Dresser

1995 Thomas Mitchell, Marsanne, South Eastern Australia ($11). This full-bodied, dry white wine by Mitchelton has flavors of lemon, pear, peach and spices. It is an intensely flavorful product that would match up well with grilled fish. The marsanne grape, which here shows its characteristic floral aromas, is one of the two grapes used to make the great white Hermitage wines of the Rhone. Mitchelton, an exceptional producer, is probably the finest interpreter of marsanne outside France.
