Yesterday's torrential rains washed out a number of key area high school football games and forced the postponement of all the state soccer playoffs.

Meade's top-ranked football team, which can clinch a playoff berth and win the Anne Arundel County 4A title outright with a victory at Arundel, will have to wait until 1 p.m. today to visit the Wildcats in Gambrills.

North County, in need of a win over Broadneck to capture the Class 4A East Region football title and the playoff berth that goes with it, will get its shot at the Bruins at 7 tonight in Linthicum.

The Carroll County title, which was supposed to be decided last night, will remain up in the air until today when North Carroll visits Liberty at 1 o'clock.

The Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference title game between Boys' Latin and St. Paul's -- both 6-0 in the league -- was put on hold until 2: 30 p.m. Monday at Boys' Latin.

The Class 1A and Class 4A boys soccer state semifinals scheduled for today have been postponed until Monday at the same time and place, while the Class 3A and Class 2A matchups slated for yesterday will be played today at their original sites and times.

The Class 2A-1A girls soccer state semifinals, scheduled for yesterday at Catonsville Community College, were moved to today at Lansdowne High. Loch Raven will take on Urbana at 1 p.m, followed by Hammond vs. Cambridge-SD at 3: 30.
