3 men charged with stealing cigarettes from delivery truck in New Windsor

November 08, 1996

State police have arrested three men and charged them with stealing 22 cartons of cigarettes from a delivery truck in New Windsor.

David W. Shepherd, 24, of Glen Burnie was released Wednesday from Carroll County Detention Center after posting a $2,000 bond.

Peter Maminski, 25, of Glen Burnie was released on a $1,500 unsecured bond, and Douglas L. Moore, 34, of Millersville was released on a $2,000 unsecured bond.

All face charges of theft over $300 and two counts of conspiring to commit a theft.

Police say the cigarettes were taken from a truck parked in the 2800 block of New Windsor Road after the driver for F. A. Davis & Sons Inc., a Baltimore wholesale tobacco dealer, stopped at a 7-Eleven store at 10: 20 a.m.

Police said the driver told them to look for three men in a white Pontiac Firebird. A vehicle matching that description was stopped on Spring Mills Road just off Route 27 south of Westminster several minutes later, and the truck driver identified the vehicle as the one he saw at the convenience store, police said.

Fire

Taneytown: Firefighters responded at 4: 31 p.m. for a carbon monoxide alarm in the 300 block of Taney Court. Units were out 30 minutes.
