Pasadena man, 35, is accused of shoplifting videotapes

Police arrested a Pasadena man Tuesday and charged him with shoplifting $427 worth of videotapes from a Pasadena Kmart, county police said.

Michael James Ross, 35, of the 1200 block of Turnberry Court, was charged with felony theft.

Barry Simpson, a security guard at the store in the 8000 block of Ritchie Highway, told police he saw a man take 22 pre-recorded videotapes from the store display, hide them in a gym bag and head for the door about 7 p.m.

Simpson stopped the man outside, recovered the tapes and called police, who arrested the man.

Pasadena: Someone broke into a 1988 Ford Ranger while it was parked at Northeast High School between 7 a.m and noon Monday and stole $1,064 worth of stereo equipment and change.
