Capitals tonight

November 06, 1996

Opponent: Tampa Bay Lightning

Where: The Ice Palace, Tampa.

Time: 7:30

TV/Radio: None/WTEM (570 AM)

Outlook: The Capitals (5-7) will get their first look at new defenseman Curtis Leschyshyn (6 feet 1, 205 pounds). Obtained from Colorado with wing Chris Simon in a trade for Keith Jones on Saturday, Leschyshyn joined the team for the trip south. The Caps reached contract agreement with Simon yesterday, but he won't be in uniform until Saturday against the New York Rangers. Tampa comes in tonight off a 5-3 victory in which former Cap Dino Ciccarelli scored his 561st goal to move into 10th place all-time on NHL goal-scoring list. Tampa is a franchise-best 5-2-0 on the road, but just 1-3-1 at its new Ice Palace. LW Brian Bellows (back strain) is day-to-day. A crowd of up to 18,000 is expected.
