Gifford Edward Blaylock, 69, co-owned accounting firm

Gifford Edward Blaylock Jr., co-owner of an accounting firm, died Sunday of cancer at his North Baltimore home. He was 69.

Raised in Glyndon and Reisterstown, he graduated from Franklin High School in 1943, served in the Navy from 1945 to 1946 and graduated from the Baltimore College of Commerce in 1950.

He worked for an accounting firm until 1967 when he formed an accounting and bookkeeping firm. In 1989, he and his son formed Blaylock CPA Chartered in the 4000 block of Falls Road.

He married Shirley Davis in the 1950s. They divorced in the late 1970s.

In 1984, he married Charlotte Jones.

He was a member of the Baltimore Host Lions Club, the board of Milford Mill Child Development Center, the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, the American Legion and the National Society of Public Accountants.

A memorial service will be held at noon today at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 5603 N. Charles St.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Gifford E. Blaylock III of Baltimore; a daughter, Gayle B. Fontaine of Gilbertsville, Pa.; two stepsons, A. Frank Greenbaum of Baltimore and William B. Thomas of Annapolis; a stepdaughter, Ann G. Muhvich of Baltimore; three sisters, Zelma B. Ensor of Glyndon, and Mildred B. Ensor and Virginia B. Ensor, both of Owings Mills; and six grandchildren.
