Centennial's Molinaro commits to Conn.

November 05, 1996|By Stan Rappaport

Centennial's Lauren Molinaro has verbally committed to attend the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Conn., on a full soccer scholarship.

Molinaro, a two-time All-Metro and Howard County Player of the Year, visited Connecticut, George Mason, Minnesota and South Carolina universities.

"There was something about Connecticut it felt right for me," Molinaro said yesterday. "I loved the campus. Everything about it was great."

UConn has a 19-1 record and is fourth nationally in the NSCAA/Umbro Select coaches rankings.

Molinaro, a center midfielder, did not play the regular season this year because of a lower back injury. She has been feeling better lately and played in last week's 3-1 playoff loss to South Carroll.
