Theodore E. Schmidt Sr., 89, Sun printer

Theodore E. Schmidt Sr., a retired printer who worked for more than 40 years at The Baltimore Sun, died of undetermined causes Thursday while visiting a daughter in Beaver Falls, Pa. He was 89.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Mr. Schmidt attended public schools. In 1928, he married Mildred C. Brandt, a neighbor in his block on Lakewood Avenue. She died in 1979.

Mr. Schmidt lived for the past 50 years on Hillcrest Avenue in Parkville. He was a member of Local 12 of the International Typographical Union for more than 60 years, and a lifelong sports enthusiast.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Loch Raven Boulevard and Belvedere Avenue.

He is survived by a son, Theodore E. Schmidt Jr. of Jarrettsville; two daughters, Lois E. Schammel of Forest Hill and Janet A. Emge of Beaver Falls; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
