Junior Carrie Wirth scored the winning goal with 32 seconds left in the first overtime to lift fifth-ranked Fallston (11-1-1) to a 1-0 victory over host Franklin in the first round of the Class 3A East Region field hockey playoffs yesterday.

C. M. Wright 4, Dundalk 0: Senior forward Kim McNamee notched a goal and an assist for the host Mustangs.

CLASS 3A EAST

Parkville 2, Kenwood 0: Tina Riley and Kelly Kehne scored on penalty strokes in triple overtime to lead homestanding Parkville.

CLASS 2A NORTH

Loch Raven 4, Overlea 0: Holly Chattin scored a goal in each half to help the Raiders (7-6) advance to the quarterfinals.

Patapsco 2, North Harford 1: Amana Barnes scored both goals on the road to lead the Patriots.

CLASS 2A SOUTH

Hammond 3, Lackey 0: Mara Finglass scored the decisive goal and Heather Grimes had two assists to give the Bears (6-6-1) a road victory. Hammond next hosts host to Wilde Lake Tuesday.

CLASS 1A NORTH

Hereford 4, Edgewood 0: Missy Kimble and Laurie Norman each scored two goals to lead the visiting Bulls (12-2).

Boys soccer

Bel Air 2, Franklin 1: Mike Steinan and Billy Nelson each scored second-half goals as the sixth-ranked Bobcats (10-2-1) won at home in Class 3A North.

CLASS 2A NORTH

Towson 1, Loch Raven 0: Nick Defelice scored with 29 minutes remaining to lift the Generals over the host Raiders.

CLASS 2A SOUTH Hammond 2, Oakland Mills 1: Jules Gero scored the game-winning goal with less than eight minutes to play for the Bears.

CLASS 1A NORTH

Sparrows Point 4, Havre de Grace 2: Halfback Chris Petrovia's goal and two assists helped power the Pointers (9-3-1) past Havre de Grace at home.

CLASS 1A SOUTH

Hereford 1, Brunswick 0: John Miller scored 1: 30 into the game for the host Bulls.

River Hill 10, Western Tech 0: Scott Buescher, DeForest McDuff, and Brent Tyson each tallied a goal and an assist for the host first-year Howard Countians.

Girls soccer

Dulaney 14, Southern-BC 0: Nicole Wittelsberger had two goals for host Dulaney in Class 4A/3A West.

CLASS 3A/2A EAST

Bel Air 3, Aberdeen 0: Becca Jones had two goals and an assist and Adrienne Justis contributed a goal and an assist for the visiting Bobcats (8-5).

CLASS 1A/2A NORTH

Hereford 1, Towson 0: Sophomore Melissa Mueller scored 10 minutes into the game to lift the No.9 Bulls (10-2-1). Senior goalie Kate Macfarlane recorded her eighth shutout.

CLASS 1A/2A SOUTH

Owings Mills 6, Lackey 0: Andi Graham and Sasha Bloch scored two goals apiece as host Owings Mills (7-5) won.
