A man armed with a pistol robbed the High's convenience store in Hampstead on Wednesday, fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
An immediate search of the area near the South Main Street convenience store by Hampstead officers and state troopers was unsuccessful.
Police said the man entered the store at 10: 40 p.m., flashed the gun and demanded money.
Witnesses gave police a sketchy description of the robber, described as a white man about 30 years old.

North Carroll High student wins Alger scholarship
Kristi Masimore recently received the Horatio Alger Association Scholarship. A student at North Carroll High School, Kristi has received A's in biology and anatomy courses.
The scholarship program, given at two schools in Maryland, recognizes students who have had to overcome adversity to achieve a very high standard.
The $5,000 scholarship is given to a deserving high school senior from each secondary school that sponsors a Horatio Alger Youth Seminar.
Fire
Manchester: Firefighters from Hampstead assisted Manchester at 1: 22 p.m. Wednesday, responding to a fire alarm in the 2300 block of Hanover Pike. Units were out 20 minutes.
