Glen Burnie woman admits she gave marijuana to girl

October 18, 1996|By Dennis O'Brien | Dennis O'Brien,SUN STAFF

An article in Friday's Anne Arundel edition of The Sun about a circuit court hearing on a drug case involving a Glen Burnie woman incorrectly reported her plea. Judith L. Cummings, 36, of the 6400 block of Bricktown Circle entered an Alford plea to a charge that she gave marijuana to a 13-year-old friend of her daughter. In an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit guilt but concedes the prosecution has enough evidence to convict.

The Sun regrets the error.

A Glen Burnie woman admitted in Anne Arundel Circuit Court yesterday that she gave marijuana to her daughter's 13-year-old schoolmate.

FOR THE RECORD - CORRECTION

Judith L. Cummings, 36, of the 6400 block of Bricktown Circle pleaded guilty before Judge Eugene M. Lerner to a charge of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance.

Cummings, who remains free on $10,000 bond, could be sentenced to a maximum of five years in prison by Lerner on Dec. 2.

Cummings was arrested after the child's mother reported to the Anne Arundel state's attorney's office in mid-April that Cummings had given the girl marijuana during an overnight stay at Cummings' home April 2 and 3.
