Hechinger names commercial vice president

Hechinger Co. announced that Stephen F. Guaraldo has joined the company as vice president, commercial business. Formerly Northeast regional manager for W. W. Grainger Inc., he was also divisional vice president of commercial sales for Scott Paper Co. He will be responsible for developing an expanded commercial business program for the Largo-based hardware and lumber chain.

Valu Food chooses human resources chief

Valu Food has chosen Karen R. Strubel as its human resources coordinator. Formerly an office cashier for Santoni Markets, she joined the East Baltimore-based food market chain in a similar capacity in 1991. She will have responsibility for hiring, employee communications and training development for Valu Food and its affiliate, Tesoro Markets.

Teleport Communications appoints two supervisors

Teleport Communications Group has named Desmond Hargrave operations supervisor and David Jenks as a field supervisor. Hargrave was formerly a systems support engineer with Telecommunications Technique Corp. and will also serve as the liaison with TCG's Quality Assurance Acceptance Group located in Staten Island. Jenks was senior field technician with Northern Telecom of Virginia and before that worked at AT&T Network Systems in Baltimore.

First National Bank names senior vice president

First National Bank of Maryland has named Jerome W. Collier a senior vice president in treasury and investment banking. Currently manager of the bank's corporate treasury and capital markets division, he previously served as an investment banking officer, interest-rate risk management specialist and corporate treasury unit manager. Collier also is an adjunct professor of finance at the University of Baltimore.

Sparks State Bank names senior vice president

Sparks State Bank, affiliated with Mercantile Bankshares, has named Amy G. Whiteley senior vice president. Formerly commercial loan manager for the northern Baltimore County financial institution, she has more than 23 years of banking industry experience.

CMG Health appoints Reisinger vice president

CMG Health, headquartered in Owings Mills, announced that Curtis W. Reisinger was appointed vice president of quality improvement and medical management. Before joining the managed mental health care firm, Reisinger was executive director of Psych-Resources Network. A graduate of Brigham Young University with a doctorate in clinical psychology, he is a pioneer in the implementation of outcome measurement systems. The University of Maryland Medical Center has chosen Dr. Carl P. Weiner as chairman of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Services. His major goal will be the establishment of a women's center, focusing on advanced fetal care, high-risk pregnancy, reproductive technology and post-menopausal care. A graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, he was director of maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Columbia-based Constellation Realty Management has named David Cianelli property manager for CRM-managed buildings and facilities in Anne Arundel and Howard counties. A finance and economics graduate of Towson State University, the Havre de Grace resident was formerly a general manager with Shopco Management Corp. Cianelli is a commissioned officer in the Maryland Army National Guard.
