Forrest takes Pimlico's Bald Eagle

N B Forrest, the favorite, rallied strongly in the stretch and won the $100,350 Bald Eagle Breeders' Cup Handicap yesterday at Pimlico Race Course with a neck decision over front-running Gilded Youth.

N B Forrest, a gelding ridden by Tony Black, reached the finish line in 2 minutes, 21 1/5 seconds for his third victory of the year and the sixth career triumph on turf.

He paid $5.80, $3.20, and $2.60. Gilded Youth paid $4 and $3.20. Dartman returned $4.20 to show.

The field for the 1 3/8 -mile race was shortened to seven after morning rain softened the turf.
