Development authority unveils new image

The Howard County Economic Development Authority has announced a new corporate image and a targeted marketing campaign -- to include a new logo and Internet site.

The new campaign is a reflection of the authority's efforts to attract new businesses to the county.

The Internet site, developed with the assistance of Jayne Bourke of Fun With Dick & Jayne, contains information on business climate, key industries, demographics and quality of life, and is at http: //

An advertising campaign is planned for this year.


John Benjamin, director of housekeeping services for Harmony Hall Retirement Community, Columbia was recently honored for reaching the 10-year service mark. Dee Ellis, head baker, and Duane Ritter, EMS/security supervisor, also received recognition at a luncheon held in their honor.

Richard H. Shepherd Jr., owner and president of Columbia Pontiac Buick GMC, is celebrating the dealership's first 100 days by donating $100 a week during October to local service organizations. The first recipient is the Howard County AIDS Alliance.

Oren D. Saltzman and Brian S. Jablon have formed a new law firm with offices in Howard and Baltimore counties, providing full legal services in individual, family and corporate law. Saltzman is a graduate of Loyola College and the University of Baltimore School of Law; Jablon earned his degree with honors from the University of Baltimore.

Wendy Altieri Taylor, a 12-year real estate industry veteran, has been promoted to vice president of sales at Altieri Homes. The Columbia-based builder of custom houses recently announced the completion of sales in the luxury golf/country club community of Cattail Creek, Glenwood.
