Libraries to close Oct. 4 for meeting

All branches of the Anne Arundel County public library system will be closed Oct. 4 for a staff meeting on development and training. All branches will reopen Oct. 5.

Branch hours will change Tuesday. The Annapolis, Crofton, North County and Severna Park branches will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. All other branches will be open from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Beginning Tuesday, the library will take reservations for meeting rooms for 1997. Bookings for meeting rooms at all branches except Maryland City will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Meeting rooms are not available on Sundays.

EPA chooses alliance to produce CD-ROM

The Alliance for Sustainable Communities has been selected by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to produce a CD-ROM for national distribution on building better communities.

The CD-ROM will highlight the best leaders, projects and practical tools for dealing with growth and change and making towns and cities better places to live.

The project director is Anne Pearson.
