September 26, 1996|By Ivan Penn | Ivan Penn,SUN STAFF

A Joppatowne woman was the victim of an attempted robbery as she walked to her car late Tuesday outside a Columbia restaurant.

Jeanette Aikins, 21, was walking across the restaurant parking lot, in the 9200 block of Route 108 in Dorsey's Search village, about 10: 50 p.m. when a man who had been standing near the restaurant ran toward her and grabbed her purse.

The woman struggled with the man, who pushed her to the ground. She held on to her purse, and the man fled to a car that appeared to be waiting for him.

The man was decribed as black, 20 to 24 years old, with a medium build and wearing a red shirt, jeans and a black jacket. The vehicle in which he fled was described as a white 1980s car with two doors.
