STARTING OCT. 1, the North County Library will accept reservations from area nonprofit groups for use of its meeting rooms.

Anticipating the annual rush to secure prime dates, the North County staff will follow the procedures they have used in past years, said staff member Sandy Steere.

"Usually there is a long line of people waiting outside the door before we open," said Steere. "We'll distribute numbers to them while they're outside to help with the scheduling. Phone calls will be accepted first-call, first served."

Meeting rooms are free and available during library operating hours, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

The North County Library is at 1010 Eastway, across from Harundale Mall.
