On the field: Toronto starter Paul Quantrill was hit on the right foot by a shot up the middle off the bat of Mark Parent in the third, and he was pulled after the completion of the inning. Quantrill was examined, but X-rays were negative.

In the field: Blue Jays designated hitter Carlos Delgado homered in his first at-bat and tripled in his second, so when he came to bat in the sixth with a runner at second and two out, Orioles starter Scott Erickson intentionally walked him. But Charlie O'Brien ruined the strategy by pulling an RBI double down the left-field line, which tied the score at 4-4.

In the clubhouse: "Can't I learn from my mistakes?" -- Orioles manager Davey Johnson, making light of his decision to leave Jesse Orosco in the game to start the ninth inning. On Wednesday in New York, Johnson replaced Orosco to start the ninth inning and Randy Myers walked the first two hitters he

faced. The Orioles eventually lost.
