New positions

Christopher Columbus Development Center appoints three

The Christopher Columbus Development Center announced the appointments of Joseph B. Schaffer as chief financial officer, Joan M. Pesek as associate director of institutional development and Rosalia Scalia as a media relations representative.

Schaffer, a University of Maryland graduate, was formerly CFO for Bally Manager Inc. He is a member of the Maryland JayCees and is active in athletic programs at Glen Burnie High School.

Pesek, formerly development director with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, was active in fund raising and was associate director of the lab's annual fund. She holds a master's degree from New York University.

Scalia was formerly assistant director of public relations at Loyola College, where she managed the college's news bureau.

Electric Transit Inc. names vice president

Electric Transit Inc., an affiliate of AAI, in Hunt Valley, has chosen Salem Wahby as vice president of marketing. He will also serve as director of marketing for the transportation division of AAI.

Formerly the manager of business development for ADTranz in Elmira, N.Y., he also held positions with the Budd Co. and with Bombardier Inc. of Montreal.
