Cummings expected back on Monday

Maryland quarterback Brian Cummings is expected to return to practice on Monday, and figures to play in the Terps' next game, Sept. 28 at West Virginia.

Cummings suffered a slight shoulder separation in last week's 21-3 loss to Virginia in Charlottesville, and his right arm was in a sling through Tuesday.

"I think he'll be able to play against West Virginia," said coach Mark Duffner, who isn't ready to say Cummings will start.

"We'll have to see how he comes along. He will not practice this week, but we anticipate that he'll be able to practice on Monday. He'll get some range of action back in his throwing arm today [yesterday]."

Virginia beat Maryland thanks to three turnovers by redshirt freshman quarterback Ken Mastrole, who has been working with the first-team offense this week. The Terps have a bye on their schedule Saturday.
